THE GENERATIONAL GIFTS

This zine emerged as a collaborative venture, uniting myself with two creative partners, Olivia Dinger and Kuhoo Bhatnagar. Our aim was to delve into the intricate tapestry of intersectional feminism within the context of the immigrant experience. What made this project particularly rich were our individual perspectives: Bhatnagar, a first-generation immigrant from India; myself, second-generation with Colombian immigrant parents; and Dinger, third-generation with Polish immigrant grandparents.

The idea that unfolded during the zine's creation had become more and more of a tribute to the impactful precursor, The Riot Grrrls movement. This tribute materialized in two ways: first, by acknowledging the movement's historical underrepresentation, and second, by paying homage to the movement’s empowering ability to amplify the voices of young women across the globe.
